How Security in the Cloud Differs from the Traditional Enterprise - and What This Means for IT Multi-Sourcing

Posted: 11/06/2018 - 05:45
Cloud computing has impacted IT in many ways, including (not the least of which) security. One decade ago, in a less “cloudy” world, an enterprise would either manage IT itself or delegate much of it to a large consulting or IT services firm. Since the financial crisis of 2008, the financial services industry has been inundated with new rules and regulations that have consumed resources and increased spend on compliance. Posted: 06/03/2017 - 07:03

Recently, supply chain professionals have recognized that better data collection and increased computing power can track sourcing, scheduling and routing better and faster than any human. Applying big data to thorny supply chain problems is still an emerging art as companies adapt their internal processes to rely on algorithms rather than rules of thumb. Here’s what you need to know to understand how big data is changing the supply chain and improving efficiency.

Extending the corporate risk profile to road safety

Leading companies are working to extend management of the corporate risk profile to road safety. More, more, more: 2017 will be marked with easier access to data, increased analytics and better cloud storage

There is no doubt that cloud, big data and artificial intelligence will be trending in 2017, just as they were in 2016, and will likely be in 2018. These are multi-year endeavours because the true implementation of technologies under these umbrellas have just begun, and challenges - like finding quality resources and better understanding of the technologies to fit into the business use cases - remain.

Walk a mile in your BPO provider's shoes

Organisations that enter business process outsourcing (BPO) transactions inevitably experience challenges with BPO providers – often resulting from unmet expectations, difficult transitions and erratic steady state delivery. While it is reasonable to expect the value promised by a provider to be delivered quickly and consistently, walking a mile in a BPO provider’s shoes can help buyers understand the typical challenges BPO providers face when taking over execution of business processes from their clients.

Posted: 06/10/2016 - 19:59

Levels of concern in business appear to be rising, as the date for the roll out of the new EU Data Protection regulations, known as GDPR, was announced (May 25, 2018, by the way). Social media were alight with comment and speculation and many people were questioning if a potential Brexit could impact the uptake of the regulations in the UK. The bottom line is, we have our own Data Protection Act, which will remain and it is not possible to rule out the adoption of best practice guidelines, regardless of any potential Brexit outcome.
