Susan Feiner is an experienced sourcing leader, most recently at Capitol One Financial Corporation where she spent 5 years as Vice President, Enterprise Supplier Management. In this role Ms. Feiner reported to the Chief Procurement Officer and managed a team responsible for the sourcing, negotiating and delivering services and goods from third party vendors across Capitol One. She was also responsible for developing strategic sourcing strategies and partnering closely with business owners and supplier management teams to ensure all vendors were fully compliant with the company’s third-party management polices and procedures and contract negotiations were well managed.
 
With more than 25 years of experience in Global Supply Management and transformational leadership, Ms. Feiner has held a variety of procurement roles. Prior to her tenure at Capitol One, she was Vice President, Global Category Management at American Express where she led multiple service categories including Professional Services, HR Services, Financial Services, Logistics and Office Support.
 
Prior to this role, she was Vice President, Customer Experience Management with the Procurement division at American Express where she was responsible for creating the strategy and developing the framework for building partner-based relationships with business unit stakeholders to drive customer satisfaction.  Ms. Feiner joined American Express in 1996.
 
Before joining American Express, Ms. Feiner was Director of Purchasing at MasterCard International where she spent several years focusing on Procurement Strategy and Operations.

Tell us about your career path. How did you get into this field? Was it purposeful or by accident?   

It was definitely by accident. I took an entry-level job out of college in the Administrative Services department at Thomas Cook Travelers Cheques.  It was a support role to the VP of Facilities and Purchasing.  During my interview, I asked him what I would do when I was finished buying?   Somehow, I still got the job and the rest is...
